How we handle your data

Last updated: July 28, 2026

the uncast reads your contacts so you can see what your friends think. While doing that, we never send anyone's name to our servers. This page explains exactly what we collect and why.

Who's responsible

This app is operated by Terspective. We act as the data controller under Turkish data protection law (KVKK, Law No. 6698) and comparable regulations. Questions: privacy@terspective.com

Your contacts never leave your device

This is the most important technical decision in the product. When you grant contacts permission, the app hashes your contacts' phone numbers on your device using SHA-256 — a one-way transformation that cannot be reversed. Only those hashes are sent to our servers. Your contacts' names, emails, and phone numbers never reach us.

  • Contact names are never sent to the server — they stay on your device
  • Numbers are irreversibly hashed (SHA-256)
  • The server only sees whether two hashes match
  • If you see a friend's name on screen, it came from your own address book

What we store

Only what the product needs to work:

Your phone number

Required to sign you in. The number itself is stored in our secure authentication system so we can send you a verification code. The rest of the product uses only its hashed form, never the number.

Your answers

Your daily YES/NO answer. Needed to show you results and statistics.

Age range and gender

Entirely optional. Used only for comparisons like 'what your age group thinks.' You don't have to provide it.

Your predictions

Your guess about how a friend will answer. The person you predicted is stored as a hash, not a name.

Notification identifier

If you enable notifications, the technical token needed to deliver them to your device.

What we never do

  • We don't sell your data — under any circumstances
  • We don't message people in your contacts on your behalf
  • We don't collect contact names
  • We don't run ad tracking or profiling
  • We never share your answers tied to your identity

Who processes your data

We rely on a few infrastructure providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf and cannot use it for their own purposes:

  • Supabase — database and authentication infrastructure
  • NetGSM — delivery of SMS verification codes only
  • Expo / Apple / Google — push notification delivery only
  • PostHog — product usage statistics and error reports (US servers). Only an anonymous user identifier and screen/event data are sent; no phone numbers, contact data, or names.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your identity and friend connections are permanently removed. Your past answers are anonymized — they can no longer be linked to you, and remain only as counts so aggregate statistics like '67% of Turkey said YES' stay accurate.

Deleting your account

From inside the app, in one tap: Settings → Delete Account. You don't need to email us or fill out a form. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.

Your rights

Under KVKK Article 11 and comparable data protection laws, you have the right to: learn whether your personal data is being processed, request information about it, learn the purpose of processing, know any third parties it is transferred to, request correction of incomplete or inaccurate data, request deletion or destruction, request that such actions be communicated to third parties, object to outcomes produced solely by automated analysis, and claim compensation for damages arising from unlawful processing.

To exercise these rights: privacy@terspective.com

Children's privacy

the uncast is not directed at users under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we delete it immediately.

Changes

If we update this policy, we'll tell you in the app. We won't quietly slip a significant change past you.
